About Us

The Women’s Enterprise Development Center (WEDC) opens doors to business ownership for low-to-moderate income women and minorities in Westchester and the Hudson Valley.

WEDC empowers entrepreneurs to build successful businesses by providing high quality training programs, advisory services, and access to capital to generate economic growth in Westchester and the Hudson Valley.

WEDC graduates start and grow all types of business.  We offer a full range of programs and services, including WEDC's Entrepreneur Growth Lab, workshops, individualized counseling, networking events, and assistance with MWBE certifications and loan applications. We serve start-up companies as well as established businesses and help them grow and succeed.

WEDC was initially launched as a pilot program called Women’s Enterprise Project (WEP), with support by the New York State Division for Women, The Westchester County Association, the Westchester Association of Women Business Owners and Westchester Community College. WEP focused on women who lacked access to traditional business and financial resources, including women transitioning off public assistance, displaced homemakers, and Spanish speaking entrepreneurs. In 2002, WEP became the Women’s Enterprise Development Center Inc. In 2003, we became the designated United States Small Business Administration (SBA) Women’s Business Center for Westchester County and the Lower Hudson Valley, New York, and extended our efforts to help all women entrepreneurs at all stages of business development. In 2008, WEDC became a New York Empire State Development Corporation (ESDC) Entrepreneurial Assistance Program (EAP) Center.  And in 2015, WEDC opened a second EAP Center in Mid-Hudson.

WEDC also serves specialized populations including mature adults 50+, child care providers, survivors of domestic violence, veterans, and dislocated workers.

In 2001, WEDC began offering programs and counseling in Spanish. All WEDC programs and services are available to men.
