Subject: Restore Funding for WEDC!
Body: The proposed 2016 Westchester County Budget will result in cutting TWO THIRDS of the funds that WEDC receives from Westchester County. Since 1997 WEDC has been training primarily low to moderate income women and minorities to start and grow successful businesses. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and make a significant contribution to Westchester’s tax base. Each year WEDC supports over 1,500 business owners. WEDC’s business survival rate is 85% after 2 years compared to the national average of 10%. Can Westchester County afford to lose this successful entrepreneurial training program?
I urge you to restore funding for WEDC in the County’s 2016 budget.
